Crimson Labret

Crimson Labret was shot in the town of Kibish, Omo Valley, Ethiopia. The Suri have some extremely painful rituals, including lip plates, scarification and dangerous stick-fighting. Many girls have their bottom teeth knocked out to allow for the wearing of the lip plate, a sign of beauty and status for the women.
